I asked him who it was for and he said it was for Joanie, who just happened to be his ex girlfriend. Why would you buy her a gift that expensive if she is your ex girlfriend? He replied that he wanted to do it so that she would think highly of him. Really he said something to the effect of, I want to get my girlfriend back and this is the only way that I can think of to do that.

I had to let him know that he was making a mistake, that it would not be the catalyst that he thought it would be. He did not believe me and he scooped it up anyway. I found out that when he gave it to her, she handed it back to him right away and was freaked out that he would spend so much. He learned a valuable lesson. That you can’t just spend a certain amount of cash and win her back. And if you spend too much on her, you will just freak her out.
