Ultrasound is used for diagnostic imaging or therapy to analyze or treat medical conditions. Some of the gears used in an ultra sound exam are:

• Ultra sound technologists or sonographers are trained operators to operate ultra sound machines.
• The ultra sound machine’s brain is the Central Processing Unit. The CPU sends electrical currents to the transducer which in turn sends electrical pulses that bounce off of the target in the form of echoes.

I have worked with a number of teachers and I have also met hundreds more and certainly among them I remember Mr. Victor E. Acevedo, who has been an incredible teacher for many years.

As I mentioned last week, Mr. Acevedo has worked with the most challenging students. These are students that the “system” no longer wanted to work with and didn’t know what to do with them. Mr. Acevedo has time and time again worked to bring out the best in his students.

When you meet Mr. Acevedo, you will find that he is funny, hard working, organized, and very dedicated to what he is doing. In addition, I know that Mr. Acevedo is very involved with a number of different projects in the community. He has, an continues to help, students with disabilities, families and the verge of homelessness, and he also helps to advocate for college admission for his students.

“I really enjoy working with the students that many people have passed on,” Mr. Acevedo said. “I many ways I was a kid who needed the help of great teachers,” he told me the last time I talked to him.

It Takes Different Amounts of College for Different Careers

It is fascinating that nature provides an infant the ability to learn language even before he actually learns to speak. Before a baby reaches the age of three, he is able to learn so much. This is why publishers provide children’s books even for this stage as aid to help develop and respond to the learning capacity and needs of a child.

A child knows his name at 6 months. Call him and he will respond in different ways. After another 6 months, he understands words and simple instructions. By the time he is 2 years old, he can identify objects in his surroundings. Probably when he is four, he is willing to go to school.

Education experts like Fountas and Pinnell believe that leveled reading system help children become good readers. Appropriate teaching and materials greatly affect the reading ability and learning capacity of a child. Having this faith, these experts encourage the use of leveling books for proper development of a child’s learning.

For starters, the children’s books for kindergarten have single word or a simple sentence on a page with an illustration that supports the text. The words are in large and easy to read font. Words are at the top left or bottom left of the page. Both Fountas and Pinnell believe that this layout is helpful for the child. The child uses the illustration as another source of information and learns to associate it with the word for which it represents.

The next set of the children’s books can have a maximum of three simple sentences per page. Each sentence use more punctuation marks as needed. A few changes on text placement are possible. Illustrations provide extra details. At this stage, a child learns to read from one line to another. He also looks for new words or a different sentence structure and makes sure that he understands what he reads.

Since children are learning more words, Fountas and Pinnell agree that one way for children to learn is by reading aloud. Whether the teacher reads to the students or he lets a child to read in front of the class, this is an opportunity for children to learn the correct pronunciation of words and may inquire about the meaning. As the reading continues, the listening children become aware of different sentence structures that make them realize of more ways to express an idea.

Fountas and Pinnell find other principles effective in teaching. The collections of children’s books they publish adapt the principles they support on leveled reading.
